How to set up a home golf simulator.
The five components and the order to assemble them.
The five components
- Hitting mat (Cimarron, Fiberbuilt, SkyTrak Premium)
- Hitting net or impact screen
- Launch monitor (SkyTrak, Garmin R10, Rapsodo MLM)
- Computer / tablet running the simulator software
- Better Golf Tee 4-pack for accurate tee heights
The order
Mat first. Net or screen second. Launch monitor third (test it sees the ball cleanly). Software fourth. Tee fifth.
Common gotcha
Most setups put the mat too close to the screen. Allow at least 8 feet of ball travel for a launch monitor to record accurately.
