Mini driver tee height: why 1".
Mini drivers and 3-woods like the ball low, brushing the deck. 1 inch is the sweet spot.
What a mini driver actually is
A mini driver is a 16-degree, 305cc to 365cc head, designed to be hit off the deck or off a very low tee. PXG, TaylorMade, Cleveland, and Callaway all make one. Most golfers buying mini drivers tee them low.
The 1-inch number
1 inch ball-bottom puts the equator of the ball just at the top of the mini driver's crown. That gives you the same compression a 3-wood off a clean fairway lie produces: low launch, controlled spin, max distance carry.
Same height for a 3-wood?
Yes. A 3-wood and a mini driver want the same tee height. If you carry both, this tee covers both clubs.
Common questions
Can I use this for a 5-wood?
Yes. 5-wood off a tee wants the same height as 3-wood and mini driver.
What about a 16.5-degree hybrid teed up?
Use the 2-iron height (¼ inch) for hybrids, not this one.
